Ziaul Haque Palash, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of APBN identified the arrestee as Jahangir Gazi who was apprehended from a Turkish Airlines flight early this morning.

The police official said APBN personnel searched Gazi’s body after he denied having foreign currency with him, and seized eight foreign coins hidden in his shirt along with Saudi riyals worth Tk 11.65 lakh.

He also possessed currencies of US, Malaysia, Europe, Oman, Kuwait, Thailand and Dubai.

A cloth trader by profession, Jahangir did not do any trade for the past two years. His passport shows he had travelled abroad for at least 128 times in this period, said Ziaul.
