BIBM trains 606 bankers in 6yrs

The third graduation ceremony of certification courses organised by the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management was held virtually.

The Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) ceremony, attended by 260 graduates, is meant for bankers of six programmes: Certified Expert in Risk Management, Certified Expert in Credit Management, Certified Expert in Trade Services, Certified Expert in Anti Money Laundering and Financial Crime, Certified Expert in E-Banking and Moody’s BIBM Joint Certificate in Commercial Credit.

Bangladesh Bank Governor and BIBM Governing Board Chairman Fazle Kabir was present at the event as Chief Guest while Md Ataur Rahman Prodhan, CEO and Managing Director of Sonali Bank Limited delivered the ceremonial lecture. The programme, chaired by BIBM director general Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman.

Fazle Kabir said certified expert bankers would play a pivotal role in overcoming any new type of challenge like Covid-19 so that we can ensure our bright future through accomplishing a smooth and well-functioning financial system.

CEO and Managing Director of Sonali Bank Limited Md. Ataur Rahman Prodhan said the graduates would be able to play an important role in the banking sector, acquiring such specialised knowledge and unique skills.

“I strongly believe that to enhance the professionalism of bankers working in the banking sector in Bangladesh such a programme will be more effective, fruitful as well as acquaint them with the contemporary banking system and global economy.”

Dr. Barkat-e-Khuda, Dr. Muzzafer Ahmed Chair Professor of BIBM said, the certification programmes would accelerate the capacity development process of the banking industry further. Over the years, BIBM has helped hundreds of thousands of practitioners to acquire essential banking skills and to stay tuned with the latest knowledge of the industry.

BIBM Director General Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said that the certification courses are helping to reduce various types of risks in the banking sector. Skilled manpower reduces the risks in the banking sector.

Mohammad Sohail Mostafa, Director (Training and Certification Programme) of BIBM said, since the inception of certification programmes in 2015, so far 606 banking professionals had already completed these programmes.
