Japan for boosting economic ties with Bangladesh

Japan Ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki has said his country wants to work closely with Bangladesh to develop economic partnership to encourage more Japanese investment in Bangladesh.

The envoy made the remark during a visit at Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Complex in Dhaka, according to a press release on Tuesday.

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Md Nazrul Islam and the ambassador discussed on the various operational and policy related issues of Japanese investors.

Thanking BEPZA for providing its best support and solving issues regarding the round use of containers, the ambassador also said, “We urge the government of Bangladesh to provide cash incentives to foreign investors of the country.”

He also assured that he would inform the Japanese entrepreneurs, during his next trip to Tokyo, that Bangladesh EPZs are providing the best services for investors.

Meanwhile, Nazrul Islam said that BEPZA has been providing services with experience, dedication and professionalism achieved through its 40-year journey.

“The authority always gives priority to the business-related issues of Japanese investors to run their business smoothly in EPZ,” the BEPZA Chief said while assuring the envoy of solving every problem a new investor can face.

He also sought more Japanese investment at the EPZs under BEPZA.

“I will take all the challenges and responsibility to make investment easier for the Japanese investors, if the issue is related to us and will pursue if the matter is related to other department,” Nazrul also added.

BEPZA Member (Engineering) Mohammad Faruque Alam, Member (Finance) Nafisa Banu, Secretary Md Zakir Hossain Chowdhury, General Manager (Public Relations) Nazma Binte Alamgir, General Manager (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain and General Manager (Enterprise Services) Md Khorshid Alam, among others, were present in the meeting.
