Covid claims 139 more lives, 4,804 new cases

Bangladesh reported 139 more coronavirus-related deaths and 4,804 infections in a span of 24 hours till 8:00am Sunday.

With the latest, the overall caseload now stands at 14,61,998 and total fatalities at 25,282, since the country first identified Covid case on March 8, 2020.

In its daily press release, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said that the positivity rate stood at 15.16 per cent, down from Saturday’s 16.71 per cent, after testing 31,689 samples at 732 laboratories across the country.

Meanwhile, 8,453 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 13,63,874.

Among the fresh fatalities, 72 were males and 67 were females.

Dhaka division was the worst-hit region logging 38 deaths followed by 31 in Chattogram, 17 in Khulna, 15 in Rajshahi, 12 in Sylhet, 10 in Mymensingh and eight each in Rangpur and Barishal.
