Bangladesh recorded 117 new coronavirus-related deaths and 5,717 infections in a span of 24 hours till 8:00am on Monday.
With the latest, the overall caseload now stands at 14,67,715 and total fatalities at 25,399, since the country first identified Covid patient on March 8, 2020.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a press release said that in the last 24 hours, the positivity rate went up slightly to 15.54 per cent from Sunday’s 15.16 per cent after testing 36,789 samples at 733 laboratories across the country.
Meanwhile, 8,982 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 13,72,856.
Among the fresh fatalities, 53 were males and 64 were females.
Dhaka division was the worst-hit region logging 40 deaths, followed by 29 in Chattogram, 13 in Sylhet, 11 in Khulna, 10 in Rajshahi, 9 in Rangpur, 4 in Mymensingh and 1 in Barishal.
