Covid positivity rate dropsbelow 13%

Bangladesh has been witnessing a gradual decline in positivity rate over the past one week, dropping below 13% per cent on Friday.

According to the daily media update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Bangladesh’s positivity rate stood at 12.78 per cent, down from Thursday’s 13.77 per cent, after testing 27,578 samples at 789 laboratories across the country.

Meanwhile, in a span of 24 hours till 8:00am Friday, the country recorded 117 new coronavirus-related deaths and 3,525 infections.

With the latest, the overall caseload of the country now stand at 14,86,153 and the total fatalities at 25,846.

At the same time, 6,485 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 14,04,370. Among the fresh fatalities, 56 were males and 61 were females.

Dhaka logged the highest with 40 fatalities in terms of deaths per division, 37 in Chattogram, 11 in Khulna, 10 in Sylhet, 6 in Barishal, 5 in Rangpur, 4 each in Rajshahi and Mymensingh.
