The total Covid-19 caseload in Bangladesh reached 1.5 million with 3,357 new cases reported in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Tuesday.
Health authorities also reported 86 new coronavirus-related deaths during the same period.
The overall caseload now stands at 15,00,618 and the total fatalities at 26,195, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 28,097 samples at 789 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 89,28,345 samples.
Meanwhile, 4,102 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24 hours, raising the overall recovery to 14,25,985.
In the last 24 hours, the positivity rate dropped to 11.95 per cent from Monday’s 12.07 per cent.
Among the fresh fatalities, 44 were males and 43 were females.
Dhaka logged the highest with 22 fatalities in terms of deaths per division, 19 in Sylhet, 15 in Khulna, 12 in Rajshahi, nine in Sylhet, five in Rangpur
and two each in Mymensingh and Barishal.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
Meanwhile, global Covid-19 caseload reached 218,058,045 and the death toll to 4,526,729 till Tuesday morning, according to US-based Johns Hopkins University (JHU) update.
