Industries at designated areas to get quick gas, power connections: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has industries being set up at designated areas will get priority for gas and power connections.

“Priority is being given to provide gas and electricity connections at Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries area or Export Processing Zones (EPZ),” he said while inaugurating a 20-km-long gas pipeline construction project at Keraniganj on Friday.

He also added that by increasing gas supply at the BSCIC industrial area, new employment opportunities will be created.

The gas supply pressure will remain normal, he added.

Mentioning that development activities related to power and energy have been going on despite the coronavirus pandemic, the state minister said the department of energy and mineral resources has achieved 104.27% and the department of power has achieved 97.74% in implementation its annual development program for the FY 2021-21

He also announced that 5 million cubic feet of gas from Sylhet Gas Field Ltd’s Haripur Field Well No 9 will be supplied daily to the national grid.

Keraniganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Shaheen Ahmed presided over the program, while Department of Energy and Mineral Resources Senior Secretary Md Anisur Rahman and Titas Gas Limited Managing Director Ali Iqbal Mohammad Nurullah, among others, addressed the programme.
