51 more Covid deaths, 1,871 fresh cases in Bangladesh

Bangladesh reported 1,871 new coronavirus cases and 51 deaths in 24 hours till 8:00am on Sunday. The positivity rate went up slightly to 7.46 per cent from Saturday’s 7.03 per cent.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,30,413 and the total fatalities at 26,931, according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 25,074 samples at 802 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 92,46,733 samples.

Meanwhile, 3,586 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 14,78,821.

Among the fresh fatalities, 22 were males and 29 were females.

Dhaka division logged the highest deaths with 19 fatalities followed by 14 in Chattogram, nine in Khulna, six in Sylhet, and one each in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh.
