FBCCI to promote Bangladesh at Expo-2020 in Dubai

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) will promote Bangladesh while taking part in an upcoming international exhibition to be held in Dubai.

The “Expo-2020” is scheduled to take place from October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2022.

Speaking a meeting organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) in the capital on Wednesday, FBCCI President Md Jashim Uddin said a couple of initiatives have been taken to display all potential sectors of Bangladesh at the exhibition.

“Global entrepreneurs will see a ‘new and strong Bangladesh’ at the expo. So, a specialized committee is working in this regard as well,” Jashim said, adding that former FBCCI president and Dhaka-10 MP Md Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin will work as a business focal person at the exhibition.

“The arrangement will open up opportunities for Bangladesh to expand its market in Middle East and African countries,” he also said.

Earlier, the expo was scheduled for October 20, 2020 to April 10, 2021, but was postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

Presiding over the meeting, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that the exhibition will play active role to present Bangladesh and bright the country’s image across the globe.

“Our private sectors should take an active part in the 180-day long exhibition,” the minister added.

FBCCI Vice-President and Expo Committee Convener Md Amin Helali said that initiatives to prioritise Bangladesh positively at the expo.

“So, we seek the government’s support to make the participation a success in all respects,” he also added.

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh, along with different business leaders, was present at the meeting.
