Bangladesh Jewellers Samity has reduced gold prices by Tk 1,518 per bhori.

As a result, 22 carat gold prices in the market will now come down to Tk 71,976 per bhori (11.664 grammes).

The new prices came into effect on Friday, said a circular signed by Bangladesh Jewellers Samity President Enamul Haque Khan and General Secretary Dilip Kumar Agarwala.

It said gold prices had been reduced keeping in mind the coronavirus pandemic and customers’ interest.

Because of the price reductions, hallmarked 22 carat gold will now cost Tk 6,170 per gramme, 21 carat gold Tk 5,900 per gramme, 18 carat gold Tk 5,150 per gramme, and traditional gold Tk 4,265 per gramme.

On the other hand, hallmarked 22 carat silver will cost Tk 130 per gramme, 21 carat silver Tk 123 per gramme, 18 carat silver Tk 105 per gramme, and traditional silver Tk 80 per gramme.

Besides, the minimum wage for making gold ornaments was set at Tk 250 per gramme, and silver ornaments at Tk 26 per gramme.

Earlier, gold prices were increased by Tk 1,516 per bhori on August 22.

Before that, gold prices were reduced by Tk 1,516 per bhori.

Gold ornaments are mostly used as jewelleries for brides during weddings in Bangladesh.
