Salim Osman becomes BKMEA president for 6th term

AKM Salim Osman has been re-elected as the president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).

This is Salim Osman’s sixth consecutive term in the post. With this, he won his last four terms unopposed.

On Monday, the election board of BKMEA, led by former vice president of FBCCI Mohammad Ali, announced that Salim Osman was re-elected.

The board also announced seven vice-presidents and an executive president of BKMEA.

Mohammad Hatem was elected as the executive president and Monsur Ahmed as the senior vice president.

Additionally, Fazle Shamim Ehsan, Alam Poddar, Gawhor Shiraz Jamil, Akhter Hossain Opurbo and Ashiqur Rahman were elected as vice presidents and Morshed Sarwar Shohel as the vice president of finance.

Earlier, in an annual general meeting of BKMEA, the number of board of directors was increased to 35 from 27.

The meeting also created a new post of executive president, all of whom were elected unopposed this year.

According to the election schedule, October 3 and 4 was fixed for collecting nomination papers of directorship.

However, on October 3, in an internal meeting of top BKMEA leaders named 35 members to collect the nomination papers.

On October 10, the election board declared the 35 directors re-elected unopposed.

As per BKMEA organograms, the board of directors elect the BKMEA president, executive president and vice president.
