Covid-19: Another 7 die, 305 infected

Bangladesh reported 7 new coronavirus-related deaths and 305 infections in a 24-hour period till 8:00am on Friday.

The positivity rate during this period marginally increased to 1.71 per cent from Thursday’s 1.5 per cent.

With this, the daily-case positivity rate in the country remained below 5 per cent for the 40th consecutive day.

In Bangladesh, the daily-case positivity rate reached its peak 32.55 per cent on July 24 this year.

The overall caseload now stands at 15,69,162 and the total fatalities at 27,854 according to the press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 17,811 samples at 833 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,03,19,404 samples.

Meanwhile, 271 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,32,966.

Of the fresh fatalities, four were males and three were females. Dhaka division logged the highest deaths (three), followed by one each in Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal.

Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions reported no new deaths.
