New private airline Air Astra receives NOC

Air Astra, a new private airlines company, received a no objection certificate to fly domestic routes from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh on Thursday.

CAAB sources say the airline had applied for the NOC on September 21.

Chief Executive Officer of Air Astra Imran Asif told The Business Post, “We are currently bargaining with an aircraft leasing company, which has four ATR 72-600 (Dash) aircrafts. If we manage to finalise a deal, these aircrafts will fly to all domestic routes in February 2022.

“We will add two more aircrafts by 2023. After that, the Air Astra Company has plans to launch international operations in accordance with the civil aviation authority rules and regulations.”

Air Astra wants to grow by offering a comfortable value return service and various benefits for corporate and business clients for the first time in Bangladesh, at a time when domestic airlines are shutting down one after another.
