4 staff suspended over health ministry’s missing files

The health ministry has suspended its four lower-grade office staff over 17 files that recently went missing from its office.

Speaking to reporters at the secretariat on Tuesday, Health Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary Md Ali Noor said the punitive action was taken based on a probe committee report.

The suspended employees are – stenographers/computer operators Joseph Sardar and Ayesha Siddiqa, and Admin Section office assistants Badal Chandra Goswami and Mintu Mia.

According to health ministry officials, 17 files – mostly related to purchase – went missing from the ministry on October 28. Medical Education Division Deputy Secretary Nadira Haydar then filed a general diary in this regard with the Shahbagh police station later the same day.

The ministry later formed a three- member committee led by Additional Secretary Md Shah Alam to carry out a probe. The probe body submitted its report on Thursday, accusing the four employees of being responsible for the incident.
