US-Bangla’s Male flight to save US$1m foreign exchange monthly

US-Bangla Airlines, on Friday extended its operation wings to another South Asian destination Maldivian capital Male which will refrain Bangladesh from losing one million US dollar monthly as foreign exchange.

Male, one of the attractive destinations in South Asia, is the airline’s 10th international destination.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali inaugurated the direct flight between Dhaka and Male at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

“From today, as a local carrier we’ll operate direct flight to Male carrying passengers and cargo and it helps Bangladesh to keep nearly one million US dollar monthly inside the country that used to be taken by the foreign carrier,” said the US-Bangla Managing Director Mohammed Al Abdullah Manum at the inaugural ceremony of the flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).

“Particularly, the service will facilitate Bangladeshi workers. I believe the flight operations will play a vital role in expanding the tourism industry of the two countries.”, he said.

US-Bangla will initially operate direct flights on the Dhaka-Male route on three days — Tuesday, Friday and Sunday weekly.

The minimum fare, including all taxes and surcharges, has been fixed at Tk 29,508 for one-way and Tk 45,545 for return.

Apart from international routes, US-Bangla operates flights to all seven domestic routes from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Sylhet, Saidpur, Jashore, Rajshahi and Barishal.

Besides, US-Bangla operates flights from Jashore to Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar and from Saidpur to Chattogram.

At the opening ceremony, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh member (Operations and Planning) Air Commodore Sadikur Rahman Chowdhury, Maldives High Commissioner Shirujimath Sameer, and US-Bangla Airlines Managing Director Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun were present, among others.
