Price fall in large-cap drives stocks further down

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) - on Thursday plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.

  DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 65.83 points or 0.95 per cent to 6,852.09. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, fell 28.50 points to finish at 2,602.87 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 9.63 points to close at 1,442.38.

  Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, amounted to Taka 8497.75 million which was Taka 11,295.54 million at the previous session of the week.

  Losers took a strong lead over gainers. Out of 362 issues traded, 241 declined, 89 advanced and 32 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

  Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by One Bank Limited, PTL, IFIC and GENEXIL. SKICL was the day’s top gainer, posting a 9.95 per cent gain while LRGLOBMF1 was the worst loser, losing 9.88 per cent.
