NBR seeks bank account details of Shakib Khan

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has sent letters to banks seeking information regarding bank accounts of superstar Shakib Khan due to discrepancies in his income tax returns.

Tax Zone-12 of NBR issued the letter seeking various documents including bank accounts of the popular film actor on Monday, confirmed a senior official of the Tax Zone-12.

His account details were sought under section 113 (F) of the Income-tax Ordinance, 1984, he said.

“Some inconsistencies were found in Shakib Khan’s income tax documents. Earlier, a letter was sent to him in this regard, but we did not get his cooperation. So, detail relevant documents including his various bank accounts have been sought.” the official said.

The letters sent to banks also sought account information of Shakib Khan’s family members and institution owned by them, the official stated.

The banks will provide details on transactions from July 01, 2013 to June 30, 2021, savings’ accounts, current accounts, loan accounts, foreign currency accounts, credit cards, locker or vault, savings certificates, share account.

NBR also sought details of their closed accounts as well.
