Bangladesh Bank (BB) Executive Director Md Masud Biswas has been appointed as the head of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on a contractual basis.
Financial Institution Division of the Finance Ministry on Tuesday issued a notice saying that the central bank executive director Md Masud Biswas has appointed as the head of the BFIU on the condition of abandonment of relationship with other organizations and organizations.
The notice said that he was appointed for the post of Chief as a full time officer of the anti money laundering agency for a period of 2 years from the date of his joining with the rank of deputy governor, in accordance with Section 9 (1) (Gha) of the Prevention of Money Laundering (Amendment) Act, 2015 and Rule 22 of the Money Laundering Rules, 2019.
Prior to that, he served as Deputy Head of BFIU and Acting Head of BFIU.
During his career, he worked in the Foreign Exchange Policy Department, Banking Regulation and Policy Department, Payment Systems Department, Department of Off-Site Supervision, Foreign Exchange and Treasury Management Department and World Bank project in different roles.
He obtained his post graduation in management from Dhaka University and also completed an MBA (Finance and Banking).
Masud Biswas was born on January 18 of 1963 in the village of Nawlamari in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district to an aristocratic Muslim family.
