5 more die, 291 new cases

Bangladesh registered five Covid-19 related deaths and 291 new infections in the past 24 hours until Tuesday morning.

According to the latest data, the total number of fatalities reached 28,010 while the positivity rate was recorded 1.45 per cent on Monday.

After adding the fresh cases, the total caseload jumped to 15,78,001 said a regular bulletin of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Health authorities reported the latest figures after testing 20,014 samples at 848 laboratories across the country. Bangladesh has so far tested 1,10,20,857 samples.

Meanwhile, 308 patients recovered from the deadly infection in the last 24-hours, raising the overall recovery to 15,42,908.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 last year and the first coronavirus-related death on March 18 the same year.
