Alexa.com to be shut in May next year

US-based technology firm Amazon has announced the closure of its global website ranking system and competitor analysis tool “Alexa.com” from May next year, after a long two and half decades of its operations. 

Alexa.com, a subsidiary of Amazon, is widely known for its global ranking system that uses web traffic data from its partners to list the most popular Internet companies.

It also offers a full suite of search engine optimisation and competitor analysis tools with its paid subscription.

In a new support document, Amazon said on Wednesday, “Twenty-five years ago, we founded Alexa Internet. After two decades of helping you find, reach, and convert your digital audience, we’ve made the difficult decision to retire Alexa.com on May 1, 2022.

“Thank you for making us your go-to resource for content research, competitive analysis, keyword research, and so much more.

“We have been proud to serve you as customers,” it added.
