Crowds search for their dream homes at the 5-day REHAB Fair on Saturday, being held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka – Rajib Dhar

Real estate companies – participating in the five-day REHAB Winter Fair at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre – are offering discounts on flats and plots targeted towards the middle income population.

Banks and other financial institutions are also offering attractive loan facilities to visitors planning to buy property at the fair.

Speaking to The Business Post, Rupayan Housing Estate Ltd’s Assistant Manager (Sales) Md Azharul Islam said, “We are offering apartments located in Basabo and Mirpur areas, with sizes between 1,000 and 1,300 square feet, for the middle income group.

“We are providing special discounts up to 10 per cent – 15 per cent on our flats at the fair.  We are selling flats in installments, as well as for Tk 7,500 – Tk 8,500 per square feet. These prices will go up a bit after the fair.”

Azharul added that the company is getting a good response from wealthy customers for their commercial, duplex and condominium properties. The size of these apartments varies between 1,485 and 3,645 square feet, and costs Tk 13,800 – Tk 16,800 per square feet.

Manager (marketing and sales) of Purbachal American City Mir Gulam Morshed Emran said, “We are now selling our ready plot at Tk 25 lakh per Katha, which was Tk 33 lakh before the REHAB fair.

“The price of our plots increased more than fivefold in the last five years as a huge amount of the government’s development work is going on near the sites. These prices will increase further from next year.”

Adding that the company is offering an instant booking facility, Emran said, “We urge buyers not to be wary about purchasing our plots. We will honour all our commitments. We are now providing up to 25 per cent discount on blocks in residential and commercial projects.

“We will continue to offer discounts in the fair, which will continue till December 27.”

Emran said their US-Bangla project is on 9,000 bighas of land located near the main project of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) in Purbachal, and around 60 per cent plots have already been sold.

Deputy Manager (Marketing and Sales) Bidhan Krisna Gope of Probashi Palli Group said, “We are offering a 5 per cent discount on plots in the Purbachal area. We are selling each Katha of land for Tk4.75 lakh to 15 lakh. “We will complete the registration process now, and hand the plots over in 2026-27.”

Navana Real Estate Ltd’s Senior Executive Md Moazzam Hossain said, “We are getting a good response for middle-sized ready apartments in the Mirpur area. We will provide furniture worth Tk1.5 lakh as a gift to a customer, if they book a flat in our project at the fair.”

Almas Karim, a banker from Demra, said is visiting the fairground to book a medium-sized flat.

He further said, “As different companies are attending the fair, I will be able to pick a flat after visiting some stalls. I will make the final decision after discussing the matter with my family members. I am looking for a flat of 1,000-1,500 square feet.”

Deputy Manager of Akij Plastics Ltd Md Shariful Islam said their company is offering up to 10 per cent discount on its products at the Rehab fair. Meanwhile, LankaBangla Finance Ltd is offering home loans at 7.99 per cent interest rate.

Business Development Manager of Retail Banking Division at Bank Asia Md Shahabuddin said they were providing home loans at 7.50 per cent – 7.99 per cent interest rate.

Shahabuddin added, “We are providing home loans up to Tk 2 crore, or 70 per cent of the total assets price. These loans can be provided for up to 25 years. We will conduct field visits before making any final decision.”

A total of 220 stalls have been set up at the Rehab Fair 2021 where realtors, building material suppliers, banks and other financial institutions are showcasing their products and services.

Of the stalls, there are two diamond pavilions, six gold sponsors, 22 co-sponsors, 15 building material companies and 13 finance investors. The event is set to end on December 27.
