Kashmiri shawls attract customers’ attention at DITF-2022

For its distinctive quality, lightweight, warm and lucrative designs, famous Kashmiri shawls, also known as Cashmere, caught eyes of customers at the 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) in Purbachal.

Kashmiri shawl is one of the most highly valued winter wear for the customers due to its better quality, unique art and creativity of the weavers of Kashmir, traders claimed.

Nikita Rahman, a visitor at DITF said, “I am here to buy Kashmiri shawls as it looks luxurious and its quality is better than other shawls as well. The price range is also comparatively low in the fair.”

Like Nikita many other customers also voiced same that Kashmiri shawls have better design, fine embroidery and soft texture which create different appeal among the users.

Talking with The Business Post, Munir Shah, owner of Raja Enterprise said, “In Bangladesh, Kashmiri shawls have special appeal among the customers due to its reputation and design and the demand is surging further day by day.”

“My Enterprise has been participating in the international trade fair for more than eight times. Every time, I received better response from the consumers regarding the Kashmiri shawls,” he added.

However, Munir expressed his dissatisfaction over services of the fair authorities and said that they were counting excessive transport coasts and facing others problems as trade fair is held at Purbachal, in the outskirts of the capital this year.

Hilal Ahmed, owner of Hubbi Arts Emporium said, “We have huge collection of Kashmiri shawls ranging from Tk 1,000 to Tk 1, 00,000 for this fair as it has high demand among the Bangladeshi customers.”

Kashmiri shawls are popular across the globe for their exquisite designs and stunning embroidery, shawl trader claimed.

The elegance of shawls hand-woven by the weavers of Kashmir remains unmatched when others shawl producers use machines to create verity of designs nowadays.

This year, a total of 225 stalls, 23 pavilions and 27 mini pavilions have been leased to a number of local and international organisations at the month-long DITF.

The fair remains open from 10:00am to 9:00pm daily and in government holidays it remains open till 10:00pm.

Ticket price for the adults has been fixed at Tk 40 and minors Tk 20.

The 26th DITF was launched on its new premises at Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal on January 1.
