Jewellers’ association drops gold prices
Under the new rates, the local market will sell per gram of 22-carat gold at Tk 6,560, a decrease of Tk 1,166 per bhori – Shamsul Haque Ripon

The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has slashed prices of all types of gold after the rates went down in the international and local bullion markets.

Announcing the decision in a press release on Tuesday, BAJUS added that the new rates will come into effect from Wednesday.

Under the new rates, the local markets will sell per gram of 22-carat gold at Tk 6,560, which is a decrease of Tk 1,166 per bhori to Tk 76,515; per gram of 21-carat gold at Tk 6,260, which is a decrease of Tk 1166 per bhori to Tk 73,016; and per gram of 18-carat gold at Tk 5,370, which is a decrease of Tk 933 per bhori to 62,635.

Moreover, the price for traditional method gold has been set at Tk 4,475 per gram, which is a decrease by Tk 875 per bhori to Tk 52,196.

The local markets will sell 22-carat cadmium silver at Tk 130 per gram, 21-carat cadmium silver at Tk 123 taka, 18-carat cadmium silver at Tk 105 per gram, and traditional method cadmium silver at Tk 80 per gram. BAJUS has urged all jewellery businesses in the country to sell the gold and cadmium silver at new rates until further notice.
