Zainul Bari new IDRA chairman

Former secretary Mohammad Zainul Bari has been appointed as the new chairman of the Insurance Development & Regulatory Authority (IDRA).

The announcement was made by the finance ministry in a circular published on Wednesday.

He has been appointed by the government on a contractual basis for a three-year term.

Bari’s appointment comes hours after Dr M Mosharraf Hossain stepped down on Wednesday over allegations of financial irregularities, bribery and corruption.

Mohammad Zainul Bari joined the Civil Service on January 26, 1991, as an Assistant Commissioner.

He then held various posts including Assistant Commissioner (Land), First Class Magistrate, RDC and Upazila Nirbahi Officer in PEDP-2 of the Department of Primary Education, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Public Administration and Ministry of Education.
