Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Saturday said though Bangladesh’s economic condition is better, all should be frugal in the wake of global economic volatile situation triggered by the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Any country should have reserve for three months to pay import bill to be regarded as financially well-off . . . Bangladesh has reserve for seven and a half months. But, we are alert and we want to be economical,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the annual general meeting of the Bangladesh Registration Service Association (BRSA) as the chief guest at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city. Anisul noted that in the current situation, Pakistan has the capacity to pay import bill for only two months while Sri Lanka has only 1 day capacity. Asking the sub-registrars to provide quality services to the people, he said,
“Bangladesh has changed under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The sub-registrars have to adapt with the changed Bangladesh”, he added. Noting that the government wants decrease the number cases, the minister said, but many cases start with land related disputes.
The registration department, however, is being digitized to reduce this dispute, he said, if e-registration process can be introduced at all sub-registry offices across the country, it will be possible to provide quick registration service to the people, decreasing the land-related disputes.
Presided over by BRAS President Md Ziaul Haque, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Md Moinul Kabir, Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwar, Inspector General of the Directorate of Registration Shahidul Alam Jhinuk and BRAS Secretary General Md Zahid Hossain were present at the meeting, among others.
