The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) is all set to start sales of grocery products all over the country in affordable prices ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Over one crore families will be able to buy edible oil, rice, lentil add sugar by the TCB card, according to the officials.
However, the exact date to start the process is not fixed yet, they said adding that the lack of coordination between the local admin and the corporation as the main reasion.
They said that the family cards of the two city corporation in Dhaka are not prepared yet. As soon as the cards are distributed, TCB will start the sales in those areas.
Beside these two city corporations, TCB cards have been distributed among the recipients across the country.
Due to some complications of local administration it may take one more week to reach the TCB products in district levels.
TCB workers also assured that when all the necessary preparations would be completed, the distribution will begin.
When contacted, TCB Chairman Brigadier General Mohammad Ariful Hasan said, “We are preparing to disburse the products through family cards from June 22. An approval letter is sent to the Commerce Ministry in this regard and we are waiting for the final approval. As soon as received the clearance, we will announce the date.”
TCB spokesperson Humayun Kabir said, “Our preparation is still not completed. We haven’t received any consent in this regard. Therefore, we can say any date yet.”
“After getting the order from the Finance Ministry, the sales will be started,” he added.
