Railway launches app for e-tickets

Bangladesh Railway (BR) has launched a new mobile app named, “Rail Sheba”, for online ticketing services.

From now on, passengers will be able to purchase train tickets by using the app alongside the e-ticket website of Bangladesh Railway.

BR’s ticketing partner, Shohoz-Synesis-Vincen JV, provided technical support in developing the application, said a press release.

Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan launched the app at the Jamuna Conference Room of Bangladesh Railway Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday. Passengers can download the app from Google Play.

Upon installation, passengers need to register first by providing necessary information, including name, mobile number, email address, preferred identification number, etc.

Passengers already registered on the e-ticket website need not register again. They can log in with their existing account information. After train and seat selection on the app, passengers can pay for their ticket(s) by using their debit/credit cards or mobile financial services.

Afterwards, their e-tickets will be sent to their registered email.

Ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, BR will start selling advance train tickets from July 1.

Tickets for July 5 will be sold on July 1. Tickets for July 6, 7, 8 and 9 will be sold on July 2, 3, 4 and 5, respectively.

BR will operate six special trains for different destinations from three days prior to Eid and on Eid day.

This time, tickets will be sold from seven stations in the capital and Gazipur.
