A new e-commerce platform named Padmabazar.com was launched on Saturday amid the sector witnessing a rough ride last year when several scams were unearthed.
The inaugural function was held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. Padma Bazar Managing Director Iqbal Hossain chaired the event, which was attended by directors of the company, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh leaders, businessmen, and others.
Iqbal said Padma Bazar was registered as a private limited company and was going to start its journey with all valid documents.
“To reap the benefits of the growing e-commerce sector, we have started with significant investment. We will do everything to ensure customers’ happiness,” he said.
“We have some innovative ideas that will help deliver goods to customers within a short time. We have our own supply chain and mechanisms,” he added.
Planning Minister MA Mannan in a video message said a huge potential had been created in the country’s e-commerce sector as people were getting habituated to online shopping due to comfort.
Acknowledging one or two negative incidents that happened in this sector, he hoped e-commerce firms would improve day by day.
“I hope Padmabazar.com has come into this business with honest intentions and will succeed,” Mannan said.
In his address, Padma Bazar Chairman Raisul Khan said, “Padmabazar.com will open new doors to meet the demand for products used by the people of Bangladesh.”
He said it would make a place in the hearts of people by providing a better quality of service all over the country and gradually emerge as a multinational company.
“From today, customers will be able to purchase the products of their choices, and the marketplace will prosper day by day,” Raisul added.
A video documentary of Padma Bazar was screened and its logo was unveiled at the event.
