A week-long fish festival starts today across the country to mark the beginning of the National Fisheries Week, which aims to raise awareness of increasing safe fish production.
The theme for this year’s festival is – “Filling country with safe fish, Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh”.
Rallies and a press briefing will be held in the capital to open the festival, but Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will virtually inaugurate the event tomorrow morning. Before the inauguration, she will also release fries as part of the festival.Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim will be present in today’s press brief.
A three-day fisheries fair will be held in the field adjacent to Bangabandhu International Conference Centre as part of the festival. The fisheries ministry will honour some individuals for their contribution to fish cultivation at the event. The ministry will also organise different national and local programmes across the country during the week.
