Jewellers in the country have increased gold prices by Tk 4,082 per bhori.

Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) came up with the decision on Thursday after the rates rise in the international and local bullion markets.

The revised prices will be effective from Friday, said a press release issued by the association.

According to the new rate, 22-carat (11.664gm) gold will cost Tk 81,298 per bhori.

Under the new rates, the local markets will sell 21-carat gold at Tk 77,566 per bhori and 18-carat gold at Tk 66,485 per bhori.

Meanwhile, the price for traditional method gold has been set at Tk 55,171 per bhori.

However, BAJUS has kept the price of silver unchanged.

Each bhori of 22-carat silver will be sold at Tk 1,516, while 21-carat and 18-carat silver are still available at Tk 1,435 and Tk 1,225, respectively.

BAJUS has urged all jewellery businesses in the country to sell gold at new rates until further notice.

Earlier on July 17, the prices of gold fell by Tk 1,166 a bhori in the local market.
