Former CEO Mahtab sues Robi for Tk 227cr

Former managing director and chief executive officer of Robi Axiata Mahtab Uddin Ahmed has filed a case against the company seeking Tk 227 crore in compensation.

He sought the compensation for due service and other benefits, as well as damages.

The suit was filed with the first court of Dhaka’s Joint District Judge on Monday against the company, former group CEO Dato Izzadin Idris, current Robi board Chairman Thayaparan S Sangara Pillai, and two others.

It was filed challenging, among others, the wrongful dismissal of Mahtab from his service as the MD and
CEO of Robi with retrospective effect by notice dated May 22, 2022, after his resignation from service on October 31 last year.

The suit said the dismissal was aimed at depriving him of his retirement benefits and to fulfil personal vendetta.

It also said Mahtab continued to have challenges in dealing with the former Group CEO, Dato Izzadin Idris, since the latter became the Robi board chairman without any telecom or multinational corporation experience and later GCEO.
