Founder Chairman of PHP Family Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the permanent complex “Mayakanan” of Nishpap Autism Foundation in Chattogram’s Nandirhat.
“Special children are the blessing from the Almighty Allah. It is a matter of luck to work for them,” said Sufi, who was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2020 for his vast contribution in social activism.
“Working sincerely for the betterment of this neglected section of society is equal to achieving proximity to the Creator,” he added.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, mayor of Chattogram City Corporation and also an eminent freedom fighter, said, “The city corporation allocates Tk 1 crore every year for special children of the city. The special children can be transformed into assets of the society through regular training and care.”
He called on the rich people of the society to come forward and stand beside the special children in order to utilise their hidden talent.
Professor Mohammod Golam Rabbani, chairperson of Neuro-Developmental Disability Protection Trust under the Social Welfare Ministry, Mahfuza Akter, general manager of BTV Chattogram Centre, and Sheikh Nazimul Islam, divisional director of Social Welfare Ministry of Chattogram Division, attended the event as special guests.
Nishpap Autism Foundation Advisory Council Chairman Zahirul Islam Rinku and its Member Secretary M Nasirul Haque, among others, also attended the event.
At the beginning of the foundation laying ceremony, students of Nishpap Autism School run by Nishpap Autism Foundation took part in a cultural programme.
At the programme, the CCC mayor was felicitated with a drawing of a special child and a bouquet for attaining the rank of state minister.
Sufi Muhammed Mizanur Rahman was also felicitated at the event with drawings of special children and gifts, for receiving the Ekushey Padak for his special contribution to the enlightenment of the society.
Engineer Jhulan Kumar Das, founder general secretary of Nishpap Autism Foundation, delivered the welcome speech in the meeting.
