Basher, Noman elected BAIRA president, secy-gen

Mohammed Abul Basher and Shammeem Ahmed Chowdhury Noman have been formally elected as the president and secretary general, respectively, of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA).

They will lead the BAIRA executive committee for two years (2022-2024), said a press release issued on Monday.

Reaz-Ul-Islam has been made the senior vice-president and Noman Chowdhury, Mohammed Abu Zafar and Mohammed Abul Barakat Bhuiyan the first, second and third vice-presidents, respectively.

Mohammed Fakhrul Islam, Akbar Hussain Monju and Md Tipu sultan have been made the first, second and third joint secretaries general, respectively.

Besides, Mizanur Rahman has been made the finance secretary, Rehana Perween the sports, entertainment and cultural secretary, Md Farid Ahamed the public relation secretary, and Mohammad Ashraf Uddin the member welfare secretary.

The members of the executive committee are Shahadat Hossain, Ali Haider Chowdhury, Mohammad Musa Kalim, Mostafa Mahmud, Arifur Rahman, Md Belal Hossain Mazumder, Mohammad Oli Ullah, Rafiqul Islam Patwari, Hoque Zahirul Joe, Md Kamal Uddin Dilu, Kazi Muhammed Mofizur Rahman, Mohammad Abul Bashar, Md Ruhul Amin Shawpon and MA Sobhan Bhuiyan Hasan.

The Sammilita Oikya Parishad, led by Basher and Noman, won the election held on Saturday under the prudent leadership of former BAIRA president Mohd Noor Ali. The results were announced in the early hours of Sunday.

The Parishad secured 23 out of 27 posts on the committee in a landslide, since it represents the agencies that are against a syndicate of 25 recruiting agencies that allegedly intends to monopolise the recently reopened manpower market in Malaysia.

Shawpon, Mofizur, Bashar and Sobhan are the only four who won from the Sammilita Ganatantrik Jote panel, which represents the syndicate.
