The National Productivity Day is being observed today across the country, aiming to create mass awareness to boost productivity in all fields, including industry, agriculture, and services.

This year’s theme of the day is “Productivity to meet the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR)”.

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the eve of the day, urging all to increase productivity for sustainable development and growth, reports BSS.

The president said the government is determined to achieve Vision 2041 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 to make Bangladesh a developed and prosperous country.

“We have to increase productivity in every economic sector to achieve the targets. I believe the National Productivity Day will play an active role in this context.”

The head of the state said the government as well as private industries and service organisations in the country have to come forward to increase productivity in every sector.

“In today’s world, the fourth industrial revolution is bringing huge changes in all areas, including people’s thoughts, lifestyles, production, service provision,” Hamid said.

To face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution, all concerned at the government and private levels should come forward with proper policies and plans, he added.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her message said, “I am happy to know that the National Productivity Organisation (NPO) under the Ministry of Industries is going to observe the National Productivity Day-2022 across the country.”

“The theme of the day is very time befitting,” the premier added.

She said the fourth industrial revolution is one of the most discussed topics in the world today.

The fourth industrial revolution is an ongoing process of automation of conventional production and industrial systems using modern technology, she added.

Productivity is what accelerates the pace of development, the premier said, adding if Bangladesh is to utilise the opportunity of the fourth industrial revolution, it must start preparations from now and work together to increase productivity in every sector of the country.
