Modern construction machinery and safety equipment attracted most visitors on Thursday at three CEMS-Global USA trade fairs held at the capital, which industry insiders say is an indication of the growing impact of massive infrastructural development works going across the country.

Safety equipment, especially imported products, were also in high demand, stall owners on the last day of the 27th Build Bangladesh International Expo-2022, 21st Real Estate Expo-2022, and 5th International Safety & Security Expo Bangladesh 2022. The three-day long international exhibitions were organised by CEMS-Global USA in association with CEMS Bangladesh at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).

Stall owners at the fairs on Saturday said multi-storey buildings and mega projects have created a demand for essential modern machineries for real estate and construction safety equipment in the country. Gathering of large crowds around the stalls hint at the rising demand for such equipment, especially for imported ones.

“Many came to our stall and signed their companies name to purchase our products. I hope that I will boost our business through such fairs,” Regina, sales manager of Maxmech engineering machinery Co Limited, told The Business Post.

Maxmech is a professional spare parts supplier of China brand engineering machinery and heavy & light trucks.

Regina said, “We supply all types of construction equipment like SANY Excavator, Crane, XCMG Excavator, Truck Crane, LOVOL Wheel Loader, SANY Rotary Drilling Rig, SANY Truck Mixer or ready-mix truck, SHACMAN Dump Truck etc.

Mozahidul Alam Bhuiyan, Assistant Manager (sales) of Abedin Equipment Limited, said their stall sold a good number of construction machines, including drill machine, vacuum cleaner, industrial health and safety IVB machine, bench grinder and furnished machines.

“Use of these machines increased 30 per cent in the last five years in the country thanks to developing infrastructural activities. We showcased at least 100 products of the construction sector,” he said.

However, Mozahidul said the global economic downturn has put importers in a tight spot as opening letter of credit (LC) has become more difficult due to a volatile foreign exchange market.

“Due to the dollar rate hike, banks are not investing in LCs, which has made it difficult for us to import products,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zahead Kamal, managing director of Kamal Trading Corporation, said the demand for construction safety equipment increased vastly in the last five years as mega projects are going up in full swing in the country.
