55-member Assam delegation arrives in Dhaka

A 55-member Parliamentary delegation from Indian State of Assam including 35 MLAs arrived here on an official visit on Saturday.

Iqbalur Rahim MP, Whip of Bangladesh National Parliament, received the delegation at a city hotel.

The delegation members visited the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 on Saturday afternoon and paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu there.

Biswajit Daimary, Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday.

He assumed office on May 21, 2021. He is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

They will visit Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat and meet Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Sunday.

The Speaker will host lunch for the entire delegation.

In the afternoon, they will meet Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi at his residence.

The delegation members will visit Tungipara, Gopalganj and Bangabandhu Mausoleum Complex to pay tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The delegation members are scheduled to leave for Assam on November 22.
