Making profit possible by investing wisely  

Investors can make a profit in all markets by investing wisely and even they can invest a part of their savings by understanding the actual risk of investment, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam has said.

Mentioning that large capital is created through the combination of small investments, he said, the development of the country will be achieved through the expansion of business, trade, and industrialization from this investment. “Thus education on the capital market is important to be successful investors,” he added.   

“Bangladesh is on the path of development by becoming a middle-income country and we need hundreds of billions of dollars to further this progress. It is not possible to get all of these from Bangladesh only,” the BSEC chairman said.

In that context, highlighting the need for branding and the reputation of the country, he said, “Now, investment should be brought to the country’s market by attracting foreign investment.”

The BSEC chairman was speaking at the “Investment Education Conference 2022” in Noakhali, organized as a part of a nationwide investment education program under the joint initiative of BSEC and Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM) on Saturday, says a press release.  

Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, commissioner of BSEC presented the keynote paper entitled ‘Investing in the Bangladesh capital market’ in the program.

He said, “Capital must be raised from capital markets. Capital markets can provide long-term capital”. He informed the gathering that BSEC will go to every district with investment education to spread knowledge about the capital market.

Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, former chairman of Bangladesh University Grant Commission, Professor Emeritus Dr AK Azad Chowdhury said, “Bangladesh has achieved incredible development in the last 50 years. “In the last few years, Bangladesh has maintained a better position than most of the countries in the world despite various global crises,” he said.

The ‘Investment Education Conference 2022’ event was broadcast live on the official Facebook page of BSEC. Besides the conference program, an investment education fair was held at the same venue, according to the press release.
