The two-day-long Bima Mela 2022 (Insurance Fair) is set to begin today at the divisional level in order to increase public awareness in the insurance sector, ensure quick payment of insurance claims and achieve business prosperity of insurance institutions.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will virtually inaugurate the fair at Bangabandhu Udyan (Bell’s Park) in Barisal, the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) confirmed this on Wednesday.
Organised by IDRA, the fair is open to all from 10am to 9pm. This year, all private insurance companies, two government insurance institutions, Bangladesh Insurance Association, Bangladesh Insurance Forum and Bangladesh Insurance Academy will have separate stalls. Apart from this, IDRA will have a stall at the fair for complaints and suggestions regarding insurance.
The stalls will provide advice on solving various complaints or problems related to insurance. Moreover, information about the products of the insurance companies will be presented to the customers at the fair. On Friday, the second day of the fair, a seminar on the prospects and challenges of digitisation in the insurance sector will be held at Bangabandhu Udyan (Bells Park).
IDRA Chairman Mohammad Zainul Bari will preside over the seminar and Barisal University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sadequl Arefin will be present as the chief guest.
At the seminar, the main article will be presented by MetLife Bangladesh CEO Muhammad Ala Uddin Ahmad. Sonali Life Insurance CEO Mir Rashed Bin Aman will be present as a discussant among others.
