Ten organisations to get recognition for contribution to textile sector this year

Textile and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi said on Sunday that the government is working to achieve the target of exporting $100 billion worth of garment items by 2030.

He said considering the economic contribution, the textile sector is the key foreign exchange earning sector of the country. BGMEA has set a target exporting $100 billion by 2030. To achieve the target, the government is coordinating with the stakeholders of the textile sector, he said .

The minister said that the government is also providing all the services of the Directorate of Textile authorities through one-stop service as soon as possible to achieve the target.

Minister came up with the remarks at a press conference held at his ministry on the occasion of National Textiles Day 2022.

Currently, the number of high-quality green factories in the garment industry has increased to 171 while 500 more such factories are in the process of approval as green factories in the country, he added

Golam Dastagir also said the government has taken initiatives to increase the capacity of the textile sector, modernize it and attract investment in the sector.

Ten organisations to get award for contribution to textile sector

Meanwhile, Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi at the press conference said that the Textiles and Jute Ministry will recognise 10 organisations for their contribution to developing the textile sector leading to export growth.

The ten organisations selected for the award are Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Bangladesh Specialized Textile Mills and Power loom Industries Association (BSTMPIA), Bangladesh Cotton Association (BCA), Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA), Bangladesh Terry Towel and Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BTTLMA), Bangladesh Textile University (BUTEX), Bangladesh Garment Accessories and Packaging Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGAPMAE) and Bangladesh Weavers Associations (Tanti Samity).
