Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh on Tuesday said that no counter of inter-district bus will be allowed inside the city except terminals from April 1 next year.
“Renovation work of Sayedabad Bus Terminal will be completed by March next and we will inaugurate it on April 1. We will not allow any inter-district bus to have its counter inside the capital city apart from terminals from April 1,” he said.
The DSCC mayor said this while talking to journalists after holding the 25th meeting of the Bus Route Rationalisation Committee at the Buriganga Hall of Nagar Bhaban, said a press release.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam joined the meeting, among others.
Steps will be taken to renovate the Gabtali and Mohakhali bus terminals as well, Taposh said adding, no inter-district bus also will be allowed to park outside the terminals or of its own terminal from April 1 next year.
Talking to journalists, Atiqul Islam said no bus including unfit ones and Legunas except Nagar Paribahan will be allowed to ply through the routes 21, 22 and 26. “Drives will be conducted on the three routes of Nagar Paribahan buses from December 20 to January 5 to ensure this,” he added.
According to the press release, the Bus Route Rationalisation Committee has decided to launch Nagar Paribahan buses on route 23 from January 31, 2022 and on routes 24 and 25 from April 1 next.
The route 23 will be Ghatarchar-Washpur-Basila-Mohammadpur-Japan Garden City-Shyamoli-College Gate-Asad Gate-Kalabagan-Science Lab-Shahbagh-Matshya Bhaban-Press Club-Gulistan (zero point)-Dainik Bangla-Rajarbag- Kamalapur-Dhalpur-Jatrabari-Shanir Akhra-Rayerbagh-Matuail-Signboard-Chittagong Road.
