Digital Mela kicks off tomorrow

The Digital Bangladesh Mela 2023 is set to begin at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital on Thursday.

More than 50 telecom and ICT companies will showcase their products and services at the three-day fair, being held for the second time in the country.

Posts and Telecommunications Division organised the fair themed “Digital Bangladesh, Highway of Connectivity”.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the three-day fair virtually, said a press release.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, “We are organising the fair from 2020 but could not continue for the pandemic. In 2023, the fair will highlight digital technology and connectivity. Telecom operators will take part in the event to showcase their latest technologies.”

Khairul Basher, head of communications at Grameenphone, said, “Grameenphone will take part in the Digital Mela. We will engage with participants to showcase the latest digital connectivity like e-sim & 5G use cases.”

Robi axiata, the country’s second largest mobile network provider, would showcase its products and services centring the “digital lifestyle” and enterprise business solutions, where it would use artificial intelligence tools.

Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is going to showcase its latest products at the fair.

As the titanium sponsor of the fair, Huawei will set up a pavilion at the venue showcasing its latest technologies, arrange quiz sessions for the visitors and distribute prizes among winners.

Majian, chief technical officer of Huawei Bangladesh, said, “Huawei has been working in this industry as an enabler of the ICT ecosystem. We are always there with our world-class innovative solutions to bring digital to every person, home and organisation and build a fully connected, intelligent Bangladesh.”

He also said, “Carbon neutrality has also been an important matter for us and the Bangladesh government. With that agenda, our pavilion, themed as Stride to 5.5G, will bring diverse cutting-edge technologies to the fair that include 5.5G, robotics, smart port, smart education, Huawei solar PV solution, cloud service and many more.” According to the press statement, the Huawei pavilion will be equipped with multiple ‘breakthrough innovations’ in different frontiers like 5.5G, Enterprise Business Solutions, Huawei Cloud, etc.

Demo sites of smart port and digital power solutions will also be available for the visitors, along with video illustrations and success stories of its latest innovations.
