Many people want to go to the sea to spend quality time on beach away from the busy city of Dhaka. They want to eat in a restaurant under the open sky in-front of the sea with loved ones or family members.

But it is not possible for all to go to Cox’s Bazar or Kuakata for two or three days leaving the busy schedule of city life. Considering this situation, pop-up restaurant ISHO Beachclub has been established on the outskirts of Dhaka right on the bank of the Padma River. Food lovers and travellers can travel to the restaurant and come back to Dhaka during the day with their beloved ones and family.

A pop-up restaurant is defined as a restaurant that operates temporarily in a previously determined or unexpected location. The concept lends itself perfectly to those looking to express their creativity and those who wish to consume it.

It will take one to one and half hours from Dhaka to reach the ISHO Beachclub, situated alongside the brimming Padma River in Bejgaon Mridhabari area at Louhajong upazila in Munshiganj, about 7-8 km away from Mawa Ghat.

At the time of entering the restaurant, anyone’s eyes will be dazzled by the sight of the Padma River flowing under the open sky. A wooden path on the sand would lead the visitor directly to the restaurant that has both indoor and outdoor seating arrangements. The pop-up restaurant, built in a beautiful aesthetic design on sand, offers the visitors the opportunity to pass a blissful time with their near and dear ones.

Rayana Hossain, founder and managing director of ISHO, told The Business Post, “The ISHO Beachclub has been designed to become a shelter for the customers, offering a breathing space away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We envision it becoming a destination for lively experiences with great food and memorable times for the clients.”

Featuring decked wooden architecture with gorgeous indoor and outdoor seating arrangements, the restaurant is a perfect destination for people looking for a place to organise different events including anniversaries, grand parties, corporate off sites, employee gatherings, family get-togethers, pre-wedding photo shoots and engagements, she added.

Why the restaurant was made

Rayana said, “We wanted to do something new to introduce our core business ISHO brand furniture. Here the customers will get a chance to get acquainted with ISHO’s thoughtful design and products along with enjoying delicious food in a natural environment.”

“We are introducing the pop-up restaurant concept for the first time in Dhaka through this newly established ISHO Beachclub. The word pop-up is used to mean something temporary. We have just begun. We have rented this place for six months. We will see how many people come here. If we become successful, we will remove the pop-up word,” she explained.

“We made this restaurant keeping in mind that we would remove it if we want. It means that the structure can be dismantled and installed elsewhere. We want people to come and experience ISHO differently,” she added.

Explaining the reason behind the naming of the restaurant, Rayana said when people hear the word beachclub, they think of an environment where they would sit and eat with the view of a sea beach. In a word, the name would create the impression of a place that offers an open environment.

Food and target people

“Our target people are the middle class people living in Dhaka. We have set the food prices keeping those people in mind,” Rayana said.

She said the Beachclub is the perfect venue for those who are fond of mouth-watering international flavours with a local touch. We have handcrafted burgers, appetizers, grills, assorted platters, and artisanal mocktails, and every dish is served as a work of art.

She also said “Each of the ingredients of our foods is local. The prices are also reasonable compared to the cost at nearby eateries at Mawa.”

The facility will be there:

The restaurant owner said that they may face many obstacles as they have just begun. They will gradually introduce different initiatives along with it.

Rayana said, “There is no facility for the customers to spend the night here. However, no concessions have been made regarding safety. We have a comprehensive security system here.”
