The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive life-term convict who has been on the run for the past 18 years from Singair in Manikganj on Sunday.
The arrestee identified as Azad Kazi, 45, was sentenced in absentia to life-term imprisonment over the murder of Nazma Begum, who was a drug paddler and his close associate.
Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a drive and arrested Azad from Manikganj, said RAB-4 Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury.
“Avoiding arrest, Azad went into hiding and stayed at various places in the country for 18 years. Eighteen cases are still pending against him, including two on murder and eight on drug charges,” Ziaur said.
