The Kazipara and Mirpur 11 stations of the country’s first-ever metro rail service were opened for passengers on Wednesday morning.
With this, seven stations among nine have been opened to commuters, confirmed Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique.
The Uttara South and Sewrapara stations will be opened in the last week of March. While preparations are underway to run the metro rail from morning to midnight from July, he said.
On December 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail section from Uttara Diabari to Agargaon. From the day after the inauguration, commercial operation of metro rail in Dhaka started with regular passengers.
