Political reasons behind opposing new curriculum: Dipu Moni

A section of people opposed the new curriculum due to political reasons ahead of the next general election and to continue brainwashing of people through abusing religion, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has said.

The minister came up with the remarks while inaugurating the National Curriculum Expansion and Nationwide Training of head teachers at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Wednesday.

“Like the conspiracy about the Padma Bridge, there are many obstacles being created over the new curriculum. I and some others including the authors of the books have been attacked with bad language,” she said.

“We will not stop and will do whatever we have to do to move our country forward, to build the future of the new generation and it is our duty,” she said

Mentioning that many people are also opposed due to fear of losing in coaching and note-guide business, the minister said, coaching is not bad but those who force students to go to coaching instead of teaching in the classroom to earn extra, there is the problem.

Another party is the note-guide book traders who also fear that once the new curriculum is implemented, notebook-guide books will not be needed while there is a class of people in the society who does not want changes, she said.
