39 cos to get nat’l productivity award

The government has selected 39 industrial and service organisations for the National Productivity and Quality Excellence Award for the year 2021, in recognition of their excellence in increasing productivity and manufacturing quality products.

The award will be given in the categories of large, medium, small, micro, cottage and state-owned industries.

Besides, two firms – National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB) and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) will be given Institutional Appreciation Award in recognition of their robust role in productivity.

The industries ministry issued a circular in this regard on June 1 and a gazette notification was issued on Sunday. The government has been giving the award since 2012. Officials said the ministry will organise a programme to hand over the awards soon.

According to the circular, the organisations have been selected for the award in recognition of their contribution to six categories of sectors and sub-sectors in the industry and services sector.

Under the large industry category, HMCL Niloy Bangladesh Ltd is getting the first prize in the steel and engineering sub-sector. Apart from this, BRB Cable Industries Ltd and BSRM Steels Ltd will get the second and third prizes respectively.

In the pharmaceutical industry sub-sector, Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, and Synovia Pharma will get the top three prizes.

Sheltech Ceramics, Mir Ceramics, and DBL Ceramics will get the first, second and third prizes respectively under the ceramic sub-sector.

In the food industry sub-sector, Square Food and Beverage Ltd is getting the first prize while Olympic Industries second prize.
