Train trial run on Padma Bridge rail link begins

The test run of a train (an engine and an open boggy) has begun on the new railway line from the district  under the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project.

The train engine and boggy departed the Bhanga station at 10:30 am and traveled 45 km to reach Mawa, said Md. Shahjahan, station master of Bhanga.

This is the first test run after the modern railway line was laid on this route.  The train is built in a special shape known as “Gang-Car”.

Project Director of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project Md Afzal Hossain, Chief Coordinator of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project Major General SM Zahid, and other officials were present during the test run.

The construction work of 42 km rail line from Bhanga to Mawa and 39 km from Dhaka to Mawa in the 172 km from Dhaka to Jashore is at the final stage. The cost of this project has been estimated at 39,246 crores.

The rail link project from Dhaka to Jashore via Padma Bridge is expected to be completed by 2024.
