The Bangladesh Bank has promoted Abu Saleh Mohammed Shahab Uddin to the post of the director. He had previously served as an additional director of the Foreign Exchange Investment Department (FEID).

Last week, the regulator’s Human Resource Department issued an office order in this regard.

While working in the FEID, Shahab Uddin played an important role in reforming and liberalising policies to attract domestic and foreign investment, and increased the capacity of stakeholders to implement policies.

Shahab Uddin joined Bangladesh Bank in 1999 as an assistant director. He has a long experience of working in the bank inspection department and FEID.

He obtained Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Economics from Chittagong University. After joining the central bank, he obtained another Master’s Degree in Bank Management from Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) and was awarded the Gold Medal.

He was born in a Muslim family in Mirsarai upazila under Chattogram.

Shahab Uddin visited Switzerland, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia for educational, training, office and personal reasons.
