Transaction hours of all scheduled banks have been extended by half an hour and they have been asked to operate from 10:00am to 2:30pm from 24 May until 30 May.
Bangladesh Bank on Sunday issued a circular in this regard.
However banks can keep their offices open for internal functions until 4:00pm during the period.
Banks are currently operating transactions from 10:00am till 2:00pm.
According to the circular, during banking transaction hours, banks have to ensure different kinds of services including clearing of cheques, withdrawal and deposits of money, money transfer, the release of remittance, encashment of different instruments and also receipt of the payments of bills of different utilities.
The central bank instructed all scheduled banks to continue services including disbursement of loans, incentives, payment of salaries of different industries, purchase of export bills, loan sanction and distribution, the circular added.
Bangladesh Bank also asked all the scheduled banks to keep one non-AD branch open within 2-kilometer radius in city corporation areas.
